Eversheds Sutherland announced the launch of their new San Diego branch.
The new U.S. office debuts with five newly acquired IP patent litigation partners, whose practice is focused on life sciences, medical devices and telecom technologies.
The team will be led by a trio of intellectual property partners — Joe Patino, Nick Pisano, and Chris Bolten — the firm acquired from Foley & Lardner.
In 2017, the United Kingdom-based Eversheds merged with the Atlanta-based Sutherland, Asbill & Brennan, and expansion has been on the combined firm’s mind since then.
Adding the IP group in San Diego “is part of our strategy for U.S. growth,” Eversheds Sutherland’s co-CEO Mark Wasserman said, adding that he expects additional lawyers and staff from Foley & Lardner to join the trio at Eversheds.
Eversheds is also talking to lawyers with corporate, litigation or tax practices in San Diego, he said. “We think there are other opportunities.”
With the addition of the San Diego office, this pushes the firms number of Eversheds U.S. offices up to eight.
