McDermott Nabs O’Melveny Real Estate Pro Lynn Anne Shapiro (Los Angeles)

McDermott Will & Emery LLP has pulled in from O’Melveny & Myers LLP a real estate transactional expert, who works closely with health and energy clients, to expand its corporate advisory practice in Los Angeles, the firm said Tuesday.

Lynn Anne Shapiro joined the firm as a partner, and she will continue to center her practice on handling complex real estate deals, including in the health, energy and hospitality industries.

Many of McDermott’s clients, including Asian and other international investors, are actively expanding their West Coast real estate operations, according to David Goldman, head of the firm’s international corporate advisory group.

“Having another seasoned real estate lawyer on the team in Los Angeles will be enormously helpful,” he said in a statement. “Lynn’s broad-based knowledge and experience will help the firm better serve our clients’ real estate needs across multiple industries and jurisdictions.”

Practicing in real estate law for nearly two decades, Shapiro has assisted Fortune 500 companies as lead counsel for acquisition, disposition, development, leasing and debt and equity transactions. In addition to working with renewable energy and health care facilities, she has handled matters involving residential and mixed-use developments, public-private partnerships and commercial, high-tech and heavy industrial assets.

McDermott’s real estate group provides counsel on all aspects of the acquisition and development of real estate and collaborates with lawyers in the firm’s corporate, tax, labor and employment, intellectual property, government strategies and environmental practices.
