Litigation Partner David Stewart Joins Howrey from Microsoft (San Francisco)

Mr. David Stewart, also known as Dave, serves as Executive Vice President and General Counsel of Vulcan Inc. and directs Vulcan’s legal affairs and acts as general counsel to Vulcan’s leadership and staff. As the Executive Vice President of Legal, Mr. Stewart is immersed in a wide range of Vulcan’s business. His responsibilities include intellectual property counsel, corporate counsel, litigation, communications and media relations.

Mr. Stewart is an experienced antitrust and intellectual property litigator and a driving force behind the application of antitrust laws to high technology industries in the US, Europe and Asia. He was a Partner at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati (WSGR). Mr. Stewart was Partner for San Francisco office of Howrey LLP (alternative name Howrey Simon Arnold & White, LLP) since April 2007.

He served as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel of Realnetworks Inc., and is well versed in global antitrust practice, having represented clients in matters before the Department of Justice, the European Commission and the Korean Fair Trade Commission. He served as General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer of a venture-backed technology start up. He served as a Partner of Sidley & Austin.

He was Note and Comment Editor of the California Law Review and served as the President of the Boalt Hall Alumni Association of University of California, Berkeley. Mr. Stewart holds a M.Sc. in Jurisprudence from the University of Edinburgh, a J.D. from the University of California’s Berkeley Law School and a bachelor’s degree in Government from Harvard College.
